Aerobiological Engineering is a website about healthy indoor environments, how to design them, how to remediate them, and how to build them. Information and links are provided here to assist engineers, biologists, scientists, researchers, and laypersons in making educated decisions about solving indoor aerobiological problems and controlling airborne diseases.

Software

UV Air Specular
An executable software package that evaluates the ultraviolet irradiance field inside a rectangular duct. Can evaluate up to 99 UV lamps. Any type of lamp can be analyzed and lamps can have any UV wattage. Lamps can be oriented in any position as defined by their endpoint coordinates. Output includes the average irradiance and the average UV dose imparted to airborne microbes. Output also includes the average surface irradiance at the entrance or exit planes for evaluating cooling coil irradiation systems. All reflective surfaces are modeled for specular, or mirror-like, reflectivity. Output results are summarized and applied to a database of hundreds of viruses, bacteria, fungal spores, etc. and show the disinfection rates (kill rates) for each microbe. Contour graphs of intensity fields (irradiance fields) are provided to facilitate system design. Includes predicted URV ratings. Each software package is customized for individual owners and includes passwords.

A simplified version of the UV Air Specular/Diffuse software without reflective surfaces. Useful for evaluating the irradiance on flat surfaces such as cooling coils. Each software package is customized for individual owners and includes passwords.

UV Genomics
An executable software package that evaluates the genomic parameters of any complete genome of a virus, bacteria, fungi, etc. and interprets these parameters to predict the ultraviolet sensitivity of microbes.
